Recessed Medicine Cabinet

Did you ever see a medicine cabinet that looked like it didn’t belong on the wall and was sticking out like a sore thumb? Other times you may have seen one that you didn’t even know was a medicine cabinet until you accidentally open the door. In both cases, the medicine cabinet you saw was probably a recessed medicine cabinet. The first example is a case of a lackluster installation, while the second is an example the way it is supposed to look.

A recessed medicine cabinet is a great way to add storage space to your bathroom without putting a giant box on your wall to stick out or get knocked down. Although they require a bit of extra installation, they can be hid within your wall perfectly so that they maintain an appearance flush with the wall and keep the contents same from jarring or being knocked out.

They often look like regular mirrors, but usually can be opened to store anything you need to. You can use them for toiletry items, medicine (imagine that!), or towels and washcloths. It doesn’t really matter what you use them for, but the fact is that they add an entirely new dimension to any bathroom in which they are installed. You can buy them in 1 panel, 2 panel, or 3 panel sizes, which makes finding the right size for your bathroom very easy. If you need a lot of room, then buy a big one and throw it on a wall that fits.

You can find one in any style you need, whether it be wood, metal, or glass. They are usually relatively easy to install for those that like DIY projects, but in the event that you aren’t one of those you can have it installed for a very low price. What I think is so cool about them is how they're almost like a secret door, a private storage area that most people would think was just a mirror, instead they discover a nice little cubby hole stuffed with goodies. As a kid it would have been my favorite hiding place for treasures, if I'd had something like it in my room. The concept is brilliant. It's also funny to see people pull on regular mirrors thinking its a cabinet and then pull the mirror off the wall.

The best place to find a good recessed medicine cabinet for a cheap price is on the internet, where you can usually find stores with tons of inventory. Since they don’t have to pay employees on the showroom floor, you can usually find steeply discounted prices and often times free shipping.  You can certainly go shopping at the local outlet or home store, but you probably will only find a fixed selection and will have to deal with finding a place to put it on the ride home. Stick with buying a recessed medicine cabinet online and you’ll have instant storage space delivered right to your door.
